About us

Our mission

Providing quality educational childcare services in French allowing children aged 3 months to 12 years in the great city of Toronto to acquire essential tools for their learning and to open up to discover.

Our Curriculum

Play-Based Learning

Children learn best through play. It can foster their creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Our Philosophy

The guiding principles to achieve our program statement are based on the provincially approved pedagogical approach to child development: How Does Learning Happen (HDLH). It is a vision for the future potential of all children and a view of what they should experience every day in our childcare.

The four principles apply regardless of age, ability, culture, language, geography, or setting. They are as follows:

Belonging

Wellbeing

Engagement

Expression

We recognize each child is a unique individual who brings his or her own abilities to the program. Each child deserves the encouragement and space to try new things, explore new ideas and develop their own unique creativity.

We strive to deliver positive and stimulating learning experiences in a safe environment that enhances a child’s social, intellectual, physical, and emotional development.

Parent’s Handbook

The Parent’s Handbook is an essential resource for families, providing crucial information to support them throughout their time at PPCC. It is accessible and clear, detailing the policies of our daycare services comprehensively.”

Waitlist

PPCC uses an automated waitlist system to allow parents to register their child in our programs. Families are placed on this list according to specific criteria and are contacted as soon as a place becomes available.

System – Waiting list

Below we explain to families how the waiting list system works. The document contains details, accompanied by images, for an optimal understanding of this system.

Q&A

Why Is My Child's Position Changing?

Your child’s position on our waiting list may vary due to several factors. Our automatic system determines the position of each child based on the registration date as well as established priorities, if applicable.

Here are reasons why your child’s position may have changed :

  1. A child with a higher priority than your child has been added to the waiting list. This may be a child with, for example, sibling priority or a child who was on the waiting list for another center, but whose parents have changed their choice of center.
  2. Your child has recently been moved to the higher age group waiting list. For example, from toddler group to preschool group. As demands are different for each age group, this may impact your child’s position. Please note that you are always ranked based on registration date.

How Do I Register My Child For The Waiting List?

If you wish to register your child on the waiting list for the first time, you must create an account. After creating your account, you will be able to add your child to the waiting list.

However, if you already have an account, and your child is already registered on the waiting list, you can log in at the top of our website. If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it.

The waiting list system allows you to add a child to the waiting list, add brothers and sisters, see your position in your two choices of center, modify your information on file if necessary and/or delete a child.

When Will My Child Have A Place?

We regret that we cannot tell you the date or an approximate date when a place will be available for your child. The number of places in our classes is regulated by the ministry and assignments to new groups generally takes place during the summer. Waiting time may therefore vary depending on the age of the group, the center chosen and class rotations.

How Does The Waiting List Work?

Programs & Fees

Centres offering infant services

  • Centre offering this program: ENWN
  • Class capacity: 10 infants
  • Ratio: 1 educator for 3 children

Toddlers (18 Months-30 Months)

  • Centre offering this program: PPCC, ENWN
  • Areas of Development

Toddlers learn best in the context of relationships within small groups. In toddler classrooms, our small groups allow very young children to make connections, relationships, and learn to understand other children.

As toddlers strive for independence, our educators create a program that supports each child’s individuality.  The important learning outcomes in our toddler program are language development, socialization, self-help skills, and the development of fine motor and eye/hand coordination.

Language development is promoted throughout daily conversation with educators, using labels or through repetition of their emerging vocabulary. This all contributes to toddlers becoming confident learners.

  • Music and Movement

We have a physical education and movement program for children six and under.  This program provides a fun, safe and non-competitive environment to develop physical skills while nurturing a life-long love for active play.  It includes multiple gross motor movements, balance and more.

Preschool (2.5 Years-4 Years)

  • Areas of Development

Two year old children examine everything they see, hear, feel and observe in an attempt to make sense of the world around them. In our preschool programs, our educators interact, observe and interpret the interests of preschool children to encourage further discoveries by planning activities and investigations that expand your child’s learning.

Our preschool program offers foundational skills in a progressive and fun environment. The preschool program focuses on structure and developing autonomy, with an emphasis on cognitive learning; including number and letter recognition introduced through puzzles, games and our pre-literacy reading and writing program.

Our preschool program provides a foundation for developing greater independence, problem-solving, integrating new concepts into their world view and incorporates elements to promote sharing and mutual respect. Our trained educators help children to understand routines, which simultaneously allows them to feel competent and confident in their current preschool classrooms and prepares them for kindergarten.

  • Reading and Writing

Our reading and writing program stimulate children to learn the alphabet, while significantly improving their Phonological awareness. The program is designed on the principles of multi-sensory learning and consists of four main styles of learning: visual (looking at the letter), auditory (listening to the letter sound), kinesthetic (sky writing the letter), and tactile (printing the letter on a sensory tray like sandpaper).  The program is based on thorough early educational research on phonics instruction and phonological awareness skills.

School age classrooms are social settings that help kids develop a healthy attitude towards learning while also giving children the ability to relax when needed. Spaces exist for children to play with others, seek out quiet time after a busy day or creatively express themselves through arts, drama or imaginative play.

  • Curriculum

Homework help and academic support are always available. Within the classroom, interactive books, games and French language support play a key role in enhancing cognitive development.

The program helps children on:

Teamwork

Activities that focus on teamwork help children develop their social skills. They learn how to communicate their ideas and point of view, and how to cooperate with others to reach a goal.

Leadership

Team building games that develop leadership qualities allow children to take ownership of a task and see it through from start to finish. They learn how to manage resources, listen to input from other team members, and exercise their problem-solving skills.

Trust building

Team building activities that build trust are great for providing a channel for children to connect with each other. It develops their interpersonal and communication skills.

Group games that encourage creative thinking are great fun and perfect for kids. Give your group of children an opportunity to imagine possibilities, execute their ideas and refine those ideas if they don’t work.
