Governance

Our centres are governed by a dedicated Board of Directors that provides oversight, strategic direction, and governance in accordance with our non-profit mandate and provincial requirements.

Role of the Board

The Board of Directors is responsible for:

  • Setting the Centre’s strategic vision and long-term goals
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable legislation, including the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA)
  • Providing financial oversight and approving budgets and major expenditures
  • Supporting strong governance, accountability, and ethical practices

The Board focuses on governance and policy, while the day-to-day management and operations of the Centre are carried out by the Director and administrative team.

Board Composition

The Board is composed of committed community members and parent representatives who bring a range of skills, professional expertise, and perspectives. Board members serve on a volunteer basis and are elected in accordance with the Centre’s bylaws.

Meetings and Transparency

The Board meets regularly throughout the year. Board meeting minutes are made available to families in accordance with Centre policy, supporting transparency and open communication.

Working Together

Through collaboration with the Director, staff, families, and community partners, the Board of Directors helps ensure that PPCC continues to provide high-quality, inclusive, and sustainable early learning and childcare programs for children and families.
