ABOUT
Petit Pearson is a non-profit childcare centre located within Lester B. Pearson Elementary School. We are licensed by the Ministry of Community and Social Services, and we hold a Purchase of Service Contract with Toronto Children’s Services, allowing us to provide subsidized care.
Guiding Principles of the Centre
The guiding principles to achieve our program statement are based on the provincially approved pedagogical approach to child development: How Does Learning Happen (HDLH). It is a vision for the future potential of all children and a view to what they should experience each and every day in our care.
The four principles apply regardless of age, ability, culture, language, geography, or setting. They are as follows:

- Engagement
- Expression
Petit Pearson recognizes each child is a unique individual who brings his or her own abilities to the program. Each child deserves the encouragement and space to try new things, explore new ideas and develop their own unique creativity.
Petit Pearson strives to deliver positive and stimulating learning experiences in a safe environment that enhances a child’s social, intellectual, physical, and emotional development.
