ABOUT

At Petit Pearson Childcare Centre (PPCC) and Ethennonnhawahstihnen’ Childcare Centre (ENWN), we are dedicated to providing high-quality, inclusive, and nurturing early learning and childcare in a safe and engaging environment. Our goal is to support each child’s development, curiosity, and overall well-being while building strong partnerships with families and the wider community.

French Program

Our French Program is grounded in How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH) and delivered through a play-based, child-centred approach. French-speaking educators create responsive learning environments that reflect both the French language and culture while building on each child’s interests, strengths, and developmental stage.

The program is designed for children who may have emerging or basic French skills, even if French is not spoken at home. Children spend approximately 50% of their day engaged in French-language experiences, where learning happens naturally through play, exploration, inquiry, and meaningful interactions.

French is intentionally embedded throughout daily routines and experiences such as storytelling, music, songs, creative expression, conversation, writing, and collaborative play. Educators model language, extend children’s thinking, and support communication in ways that promote confidence, curiosity, and a sense of belonging.

The French language is implemented across all PPCC programs, beginning in Toddler and Preschool, continuing through Junior and Senior Kindergarten, and extending into School Age programs. This consistent, play-based exposure supports children’s overall development and aligns with HDLH foundations of Belonging, Well-Being, Engagement, and Expression.
